TonsBridge organised its annual Inter-School Debate “Engaging Minds” on October 10.
Sixteen schools, viz. Cambrian Hall, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Doon International, Drona’s International, Rishikesh Public School, St. Jude’s, Touchwood, Wynberg Allen, The Indian Cambridge, Nirmal Ashram, Scholars Home, Summer Valley, The Asian School, D. A. V. Public School, Universal Academy and Shemford Doon, participated in the Debate. The Debate was judged by Mrs. Veena Kalia, Dr. Rati Oberoi and Mrs. Namrata Mukherjee.
The topic for the Debate was ““The print and the electronic media have become sensationalist and need to be governed or controlled by a set of rules enacted by the government.” All the participants forcefully presented their views for or against the motion, supporting their views with conviction, hard facts and good reasoning.
Deepansh Jawarani of Wynberg Allen won the Best Speaker (For) prize and Sridip Mukherjee of Wynberg Allen won the Best Speaker (Against) prize. Wynberg Allen won the overall trophy for standing First. Convent of Jesus and Mary stood Second and D. A. V. Public School and Touchwood shared the Third position.
The Chief Guest for the Debate was Dr. R. B. S. Rawat, former Principal Chief Conservator, Uttarakhand. Speaking on the occasion, the judges as well as the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of all the speakers.
