It was an honour for the TonsBridge School to host a book launch ceremony on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in which the Honourable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, unveiled a masterpiece authored by the well-known defence specialist and prolific author Maj. Gen. G. D. Bakshi, VSM, SM (retd.).
The Chairman, Mr Vijay Nagar, and the Principal, Ms.Bela Sehgal formally welcomed Maj. Gen. Bakshi and his wife Sunita Bakshi with bouquets. Other distinguished guests, Shri H.R. Singh, former DGP, CRPF, and Justice Dhyani were also warmly welcomed.
The programme was hosted delightfully by Mr. Sunil Mansingh. The school choir sang a devotional song, Vatapi Ganpatim, and the dance club presented the Ganesh Vandana, lending an auspicious start to the event.
The honourable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami was warmly received by everyone present on his arrival.
After the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, the Chairman addressed the gathering and extolled General Bakshi for his consistent passion in delving into the vast reserves of true knowledge and channelling it to build a new nation.
The honourable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami released the book titled “A History of Hinduism: An Inside -the Tradition View.”
Major General Bakshi, in a highly eloquent and passionate address, shared with the audience his research work on our roots and origins, along with illuminating the etymology of the word Hindu. His words thrilled and enlightened the audience.
It was endearing to note that an army officer who once raised arms to defeat the country’s foes is using a pen to bring a revolution of ideas amongst his fellow countrymen, eventually proving that a pen indeed proves mightier than the sword.
The Chief Minister, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Maj. Gen. Bakshi on the launch of his book, which he emphasised must be read by everyone present.
Shri Dhami also apprised the audience about the efforts of the government in making the state of Uttarakhand, a drug-free zone by the year 2025.
He was presented with a token of appreciation by the Chairman, Mr. Vijay Nagar.
The host, Mr Mansingh posed a few questions at Maj. Gen. Bakshi gave everyone an insight into the central idea and the inspiration for his book.
In the end, the Chairman Mr. Vijay Nagar presented a memento to General Bakshi to express his gratitude for choosing the Tonsbridge School for the book launch ceremony.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Gargi Saraswat and the rendition of the National Anthem.
