Grand Inauguration of Hansraj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament at The TonsBridge School

Hansraj-Memorial-Table-Tennis-TournamentDehradun, May 10, 2025 — The inaugural edition of the Hansraj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament was ceremoniously inaugurated on Saturday at The TonsBridge School by the Hon’ble Sports & Youth Affair Minister of Uttarakhand, Mrs. Rekha Arya. The tournament has been organized in the cherished memory of Late Shri Hansraj Ji, father of the school’s Chairman, Mr. Vijay Nagar.

The tournament is envisioned with a clear objective — to inspire youth to engage with the sport of table tennis and to identify and nurture emerging talent across the region and the country. The first edition witnessed participation from over 30 esteemed schools across Uttarakhand, with more than 500 young athletes showcasing their talent and competitive spirit.

The event saw the presence of not only players, but also their coaches, sports educators, parents, and respected members of the state’s Table Tennis Association. In total, over 1,000 attendees were part of this grand celebration of sport.

Mr. Vijay Nagar, Chairman of The TonsBridge School, stated:
“This tournament is more than just a competition. It reflects our commitment to promoting table tennis and offering a platform for talented young players. We aim to elevate this tournament to the national level in the future, where it can truly serve as a festival of emerging talent and sporting excellence.”

The Hansraj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament has set a strong foundation for fostering sports culture in Uttarakhand and beyond. With its successful first edition, plans are already underway to make future editions even larger and more impactful.
